"Manual insemination" has many advantages

Artificial insemination of pigs has become a very mature technology, and more and more pig farms begin to use artificial insemination. Artificial insemination can effectively control the spread of diseases, reduce the cost of raising boars and improve the quality of herds. Solve some problems in pig production, especially reproduction:
1. Difficulties in the disparity between the weight of first-match sows and male boars The initial weight difference between sows and adult boars is very different. The weight ratio between males and females can reach 2.5:1 or even higher. If breeds of boars are used to improve local breeds, the difference between male and female weights will be greater. Some local breeds weigh less than 100 kilograms even if they have produced a single child. Therefore, in the present situation, first-time sows are often unable to bear the weight of the boar and cause breeding difficulties. In many cases, the age of mating sows has to be postponed. Artificial insemination is completely different. In addition, even if the sow has a mild leg disease, the sow can be conceived by insemination.
2. Insufficient number of boars Many pig farms have to use poor quality boars due to lack of excellent boars, which is very detrimental to the maintenance and improvement of pig production performance. Breeding ability of boars will also be greatly reduced in the summer, so boars are often not enough. Artificial insemination at least can increase the breeding ability of male boar by a factor of 10, so that excellent boars can be fully utilized. If artificial insemination is used, a boar can assume the task of mating at least 200 sows, and the number of sows that can be borne by individual boars reaches 600.
3. The outstanding species of boars that have been tested for the high cost of breeding of excellent boars may sometimes only purchase more than 8,000 yuan. Under the present situation, each boar can be bred for about 150 times per year, with a usable period of 3 years. Each breeding time for each sow (2 breedings per affecting period), and the cost of purchasing the species will be nearly 40 yuan. Plus, the management fee for breeding is about 50 yuan. Therefore, many farms are unwilling to pay high fees for purchasing excellent boars. When purchasing boars of the same price and using artificial insemination, the amount of seed purchased and the management fee for each sow is not more than 15 yuan. Sows that were tested for elite boars were more likely to have a weight gain of approximately 50 to 100 kilograms or more per litter during the growth and finishing period, compared with the non-determined boar offspring in the growing and finishing period. A 10,000 pig farm can produce 1,200 litters of merchandise per year. If all the excellent boar semen is used, it can increase production of 60,000 to 120,000 kilograms of live pigs. The use of artificial insemination can increase the breeding capacity of a boar by at least 10 times. We raised the boar's offspring from about 600 a year to 6,000 to 10,000 heads. Under the present situation, a pig farm with an annual output of 10,000 heads of pigs needs about 20 to 25 adult boars and 8 to 9 heads of boar; only 2 or 3 heads are needed for artificial insemination. In fact, consider five male boars and two reserve boars to ensure a larger choice. Such a 10,000 pig farm can keep 20 boars and 6 reserve boars. Only purchasing a boar fee can save 3 to 50,000 yuan. Enough to build two fully equipped artificial insemination laboratories. At the same time, the annual savings of feed, medicine, and labor costs about 30,000 yuan. According to statistics from some large pig farms in the south, pig farms use artificial insemination, which can increase the overall economic efficiency by 20,000 to 250,000 yuan per 10,000 heads of commercial pigs.
