Two new susceptibility loci found in gastric body cancer

Shanghai Jiaotong University Bio-X Research Institute, Nanjing Medical University, and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences recently adopted a large-scale genome-wide association analysis based on 4294 patients with gastric cancer and 5,882 normal control samples, locking two new stomachs. Carcinoma-related susceptibility loci 5p13.1 and q13.31. Research papers were published online in the internationally renowned academic journal Nature Genetics.

Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract. Clinically, cancers that are found in the upper part of the stomach are often referred to as cardiac cancers, and cancers that are found in the lower part of the stomach are called gastric cancers. Professor Jin Yong from the Bio-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Shen Hongbing from Nanjing Medical University, and Professor Lin Dongyi from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences led the research team to 3279 Han subjects (including 1006 non-cardiac cancer patients and 2273 without this disease) The diseased control subjects performed a chip technology analysis and further verified the results of 6897 subjects (including 3288 non-cardiac cancer patients and 3609 control individuals), thereby identifying 5p13.1 and q13.31 These two new carcinoid cancer related susceptibility sites. At the same time, the researchers confirmed through the attribution analysis that previously reported chromosome 8q24, 1q22, and 20p13 regions were also associated with susceptibility to gastric body cancer in the Han population.
