In 2010, the export volume of grilled quail in Fujian province increased

According to customs statistics, in 2010, Fujian Province exported 22,000 tons of roast oysters worth US$410 million, an increase of 29.8% and 97.9% respectively from the previous year (the same below). The average export price was 18.2 US dollars per kilogram, up 52.5%.

I. The main characteristics of the export of roasted eel in Fujian Province in 2010 (I) The monthly export volume changed significantly with seasonal changes, and the average export price was high. In 2010, Fujian Province's roasted eel exports experienced seasonal peaks during March and June. During this period, the monthly export volume exceeded 20 million tons, and the highest value during the year occurred in May, with 2,995 tons exported during the month. Starting from July, monthly export volume is operating below 20 million tons. In December, it exported 16.63 million tons in the month, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year and a decrease of 16.4% from the previous month. At the same time, the average export price in November climbed to US$21.3 per kilogram, the highest since January 2009. Declined to US$20.7/kg in December, up 41.9% year-on-year and 2.5% month-on-month, still at a high level (below).

(b) 80% of exports are made by general trade. In 2010, Fujian Province exported 18,000 tons of baked oysters in general trade, an increase of 46.7%, which accounted for 81.8% of the total exports of grilled quails in Fujian during the same period. In addition, the processing trade mode exported 04,000 tons, a decrease of 14.7%, accounting for 18.2%.

(C) State-owned enterprises mainly export. In 2010, Fujian's state-owned enterprises exported 11,000 tons of grilled eels, an increase of 23.3%, which accounted for 50% of the total exports of baked eel in Fujian during the same period; private enterprises exported 07,000 tons, an increase of 36.4%, accounting for 31.8%; foreign-invested enterprises exported 0.4 million tons, an increase of 39.3%, accounting for 18.2%.

(4) Major exports to Japan, and exports to Taiwan have doubled. In 2010, Fujian Province exported 14,000 tons of baked quail to Japan, an increase of 16.3%, accounting for 63.6% of the total exports of roasted quails in Fujian during the same period. During the same period, it exported 0.3 million tons to the United States, an increase of 96.1%, accounting for 13.6%, and exported 0.1 million tons to the Taiwan region, a surge of 3.5 times, accounting for 4.5%.

Second, the current issues worth paying attention to and related recommendations (a) increase the cost of baking the impact of corporate profits. First of all, the scarcity of seedling resources led to a rise in the cost of roast quail. Due to over-fishing and El Niño phenomenon, global seedlings are owed. In addition, the European Union has included European eels as an endangered species, and strict restrictions have been imposed on the fishing of European seedlings, causing seedling prices to continue to rise. In 2010, only 10 tons of seedlings entered the pool in mainland China, and it was only possible to raise more than 20,000 tons of live cockroaches. European seedlings entered the pool of 14.5 tons, and they can only raise more than 30,000 tons of live cockroaches. Affected by lack of seedlings, the price of seedlings remained high in 2010, and the European seedlings futures price reached 3.8-4 yuan/tail, a record high[2]. Secondly, the increase in feed costs has increased the operating pressure of roasting companies. Fish meal is an important component of feed for aquaculture. In 2010, the average price of imported fishmeal in Fujian was US$1,721 per ton, which was a year-on-year increase of 60.3%. At the same time, the prices of bulk raw materials such as starch and soybean meal (3454, 7.00, and 0.20%) in the international market have also been rising year after year, directly squeezing the profits of the grilled and cured enterprises. Third, the costs of wages, water, electricity, etc. increase. As the main production base for roast rice, the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangxi have successively raised the minimum wage. Coupled with higher standards for utilities, companies will face the challenge of rising operating costs.

(2) The high trade barriers will still hinder the export of roasted oysters. As Japan’s largest exporter of roasted oysters, Japan decided on December 28, 2010 to cancel preferential tariff concessions on 450 kinds of goods imported from China, including Japanese species such as squid, and submit tariff provisional measures in the usual Congress in January. The amendment seeks to implement it from April 1 [3]. At the same time, there are as many as 118 kinds of drug residue detection items related to imported carp in Japan, and many orders such as enrofloxacin, malachite green, and nitrofuran are still inspected in our carp, impeding the normal conduct of catfish trade.[4] . In addition, South Korea's tariff rates on imported cod have been maintained at a high level of 30% (only 3.5% to 10% in other countries)[5] and high tariffs have increased pressure on eel companies to export. In the second half of 2010, South Korea added 15 new inspection and quarantine items to imported aquatic products, and the newly added testing costs directly impacted on corporate profits. Escalating tariff barriers and technical barriers have increased the export risk of Chinese baking companies.

(3) The business strategy of the export enterprises of roasted oysters needs to be reformed. First, it should shift from a single market to a diversified market. In 2010, the market share of roast chicken products exported from Japan to Japan was 63.6%. This phenomenon of over-reliance on the Japanese market made the company's ability to resist risks and was easily controlled by others. Second, it should establish the brand as soon as possible and abandon the unnamed low-end line. . Roasted quail in Fujian Province is generally processed according to Japan's quality standards and roast quail culture. The added value is low and the profit margin is small. Due to the lack of its own brand, the degree of trust among Japanese consumers is insufficient and it is easily implicated in individual incidents such as "dumpling dumplings" and "poison bacteria".
