Low-salt diet can effectively lower blood pressure

A new study in the US has found that for patients with refractory hypertension, a low-salt diet may be more effective in helping them lower their blood pressure than taking a large dose of medicine.
Researchers at the University of Alabama in the United States conducted a survey of 12 patients with refractory hypertension. The respondents took an average of 3 antihypertensive drugs a day, but half of them ate low-salt foods, which was equivalent to about half a teaspoon of salt per day. The other half ate high-salt foods, which was equivalent to eating every day. About 2.5 teaspoons of salt. The results showed that people who ate low-salt foods had an average reduction in blood pressure (systolic blood pressure) of 22.7 points (1 point is about 0.35 mm Hg), and low pressure (diastolic blood pressure) decreased by 9.1 points on average.
The researchers said that patients with refractory hypertension usually take more than three drugs to lower blood pressure, even so, the antihypertensive effect is still not ideal. The above studies have shown that reducing daily salt intake may help hypertensive patients to reduce blood pressure more effectively.

The novel coronavirus (NCoV-2019) outbreak in Wuhan, China has spread rapidly nationwide, with some cases occurring in other parts of the world.
