Control of Dahlia moth

Dahlia moth is a lepidopteran, pest of the family Moth. Also known as the European corn borer, borer. The main harm to dahlia, chrysanthemum, gladiolus, jasmine, canna and other flowers. It overwinters mature larvae in plant stems. In May, the adult ecloses are hidden between plants and weeds in the daytime. They fly in the evening and have phototaxis. The eggs are produced at the base of flower buds and petioles after mating at night. In late May, the larvae enter the stems after hatching. Injury characteristics The larvae begin to injure the stalks after the third instar and the drilling department is black. When damaging Dahlia, the larvae invade the main stem or lateral branches, affecting the transport of water and nutrients, and cannot flower, even causing the plants to wither, die or break. Prevention methods (1) Treat stalks every year from April to May to eliminate overwintering hosts. (2) The larvae are sprayed with 5% fipronil suspension or 80% dichlorvos EC or 50% killer pine EC at 1000 times. It can also spray 20% cypermethrin EC 2000-3000 times. (3) When larvae were found in larvae during June-July, 80% of dichlorvos EC could be injected with a syringe.
